The Solar-Electric Cooking Partnership for Displacement Contexts
A Transformative Initiative Under the GeCCo Umbrella
SOLCO is part of the Global eCooking Coalition (GeCCo), focused on providing solar electric cooking to displaced families and their host communities.
Our Purpose
We aim to replace smoky, harmful cooking methods with solar electric systems at scale across a minimum of 250,000 displaced households by 2027, making a positive impact on health, the environment, and local economies.
SOLCO’s Role
As a GeCCo initiative, SOLCO zeroes in on the cooking energy needs of displaced communities. We use GeCCo’s network to bring solar cooking to one of the communities most often left behind and where it’s needed most – displaced households and their host communities.
How We Work
SOLCO is a platform for public-private partnerships to enable solar-electric cooking at scale across a number of refugee-hosting countries through localized market-based implementation that crowds in private sector solutions and climate financing with a target of min. 100 million USD.
Get Involved
We welcome collaboration with governments, businesses, NGOs, and community groups. Join us to help make solar e-cooking a reality for displaced communities.
